| ruggles residence Aldridge Road, North Carolina The Ruggles� residence occupies a dramatic hillside site at the west entrance to the City. It is designed as three perfectly square pavilions with interlinking spaces, containing the two-story, two-bedroom residence, Joanne�s art studio, and a guest room and garage. The steel structure lands only at the corners, preserving column-free interiors with large unbroken surfaces for the couple�s extensive art collection. The overall form of the Ruggles home reflects the shapes of surrounding hills, while detailing is precise and museum-like throughout. The project was the recipient of a San Luis Beautiful award.
